Catherine Simpson welcomed over 40 ladies to Women Sharing Hope on July 15 at the clubhouse. Barbara Browning opened the meeting with a prayer and then led a short discussion about our Care program, which consists of volunteers who pray for attendees’ specific prayers throughout the month. Catherine then gave details about our retreat at Camp Copass in Denton on Oct. 18 to 20, featuring speakers Joyce Stanley, Dr. Elizabeth Vaughan, and Kathy Howard. The retreat is designed to encourage, empower, excite, and explore ways God shows His love and how He is still working miracles today. The registration fee is $25. The rooms are $145 per night for a single occupant or $72.50 for a shared room (each room has two queen-size beds and a full bath). A $40 deposit is needed to reserve the room. For those who do not wish to stay the night, your day pass is included in the registration fee, and meals are $11 each. If you are interested in attending, please contact Kris Wichern at 703-431-2581 or [email protected].
Catherine then shared how to join a Prayer, Praise, and Play (PPP) group and presented a slideshow of past activities, including a ‘50s party, High Tea, etc. The groups will meet monthly and consist of around eight ladies who want to form deeper Christian friendships that focus on fun activities, while also praying for each other and praising God.
Bobbi Stringer gave an overview of our new Widow’s program, which is designed to help widows and widowers in Robson connect with each other and navigate the challenges of losing a spouse.
This month we were blessed to have Dr. Elizabeth Vaughan talk about healing miracles she has witnessed all over the world. God was surely in our midst as she prayed with two women—one who had major foot pain for weeks and another who is legally blind. Both ladies are reporting improvement. Praise God!
Women Sharing Hope is open to all women who want a deeper bond with Christ and each other while glorifying God with our words and actions as we are led by the Holy Spirit. Please join us next month as we meet at the clubhouse, Lone Star Room, on Aug. 19 at 10:30 a.m. The subject will be “Experiencing God.” Our speaker is Kim Broadstreet, the Pastor at First Baptist Church of Ponder for over 25 years. Topics include: Do you go to church as part of your “to do” list? Does going to church still excite you and steer you into action? Do you go home and forget the sermon five minutes later? Do people still encounter God? Is He involved in our daily lives? How do we know the Bible is accurate?
We look forward to seeing everyone for a Spirit-filled gathering. After the program, there will be a salad buffet luncheon for $18 (cash or check only).
