The Women’s Club is excited about the April luncheon on Monday, April 1! Join us as we welcome Denton Police Officer Ricky Fenner with a big “Spring Hello”!
Officer Fenner joined the Denton Police Department in November of 2020 and is assigned to the Community Resources Unit. She has been a police officer for over seven years and is an instructor with a focus on crime prevention. She will address topics of our local interests and take questions. This will be a very informative program, which will include community updates and enlightening strategies for crime prevention.
The April charity: Friends of the Family
Buffet: Trio salad (balsamic vinaigrette corkscrew pasta salad, chicken salad, house salad) with choice of dressing, garlic breadstick, and pineapple upside down cake
Luncheon checks are due by Monday, March 25, at 8 a.m.
If you have any questions, contact Candace Anderson at 512-809-7570.
As a recap: The February luncheon program was on Feb. 5. President Lisa Olson called the meeting to order. She introduced a new slideshow format, which will run continuously during lunch and shorten the meetings. Included was the business report and a thank you to all the luncheon volunteers. She reminded everyone of the day outing to Texas Woman’s University on Feb. 13. She also reminded everyone of the Home & Garden Show on March 16 and the Spring Fling social on March 26. Lisa also reminded everyone about the Summer Patio Tour on June 1. Eight beautiful patios and landscaping will be featured on the tour. Watch for details.
Lisa Olson and Donna DeBoever introduced new members, first-time attendees, and guests. We had 15 new members and one guest. The current membership is 326.
Shirley Monge celebrated the February birthdays. There was a drawing for the birthday card, free lunch, and lottery ticket. The winner was Kathy Toothaker. Shirley reminded everyone that there were orange sheets on the tables and asked that members provide information on anyone needing a card on behalf of the Women’s Club.
Lisa reminded everyone that separate checks are required for lunches and annual membership.
Suzanne Spisak gave an update on Community Outreach. The three charities we support are Our Daily Bread, Friends of the Family, and Denton Community Food Center.
A drawing was held to Share the Blessings. Gina Ross won a free lunch.
Gayle Lee let everyone know that the Spring Fling social party will be held on March 26. It will be held in the clubhouse from 1 to 3 p.m. with an informal style show by Le Fashion Coach.
Gayle introduced the speaker, Debbie Deverich, who spoke about The 5 Love Languages, which is a book written by Gary Chapman. The 5 love languages are 1) words of affirmation, 2) quality time, 3) giving/receiving gifts, 4) acts of service, and 5) physical touch. There is a quiz available at 5lovelanguages.com/quizzes to determine which love language you fit into.
