Women’s Club September Luncheon

The excellent Women’s Club monthly luncheon programs continue to update, enlighten, and entertain! Monthly luncheons are $19 per person. Reserve your seat by making your reservation payment by the deadline.

As a recap, the July luncheon provided an exceptional patriotic program with President Nancy Caldwell opening the afternoon by noting we were celebrating the 247th birthday of America. She quoted John Phillip Sousa’s motto, “The red and white and starry blue is freedom’s shield and hope.” She also read the poem titled “Our Flag Is Still There,” by Francis Scott Key, which became our national anthem in 1731. She then provided the current business status updates. She shared that the current membership stands at 484 members. New members were welcomed, and “Happy Birthday” rang through the ballroom for the attendees celebrating a July birthday!

President-elect Lisa Olson announced the annual Backpack and School Supplies Drive was going well, and members were encouraged to purchase backpacks for only $5 at the Service table while at the luncheon. Everyone is welcome to purchase their own backpack if they wish. Fill them from the school supplies list on the Women’s Club website, rrwomensclub.org. Everyone is welcome to participate. For questions, contact Lisa Olson at 817-903-9894 or [email protected].

On with the program! Gayle Lee, VP Programs, welcomed Scott Cooksey, president of Support Our Troops (SOT), who opened the program and explained SOT’s goal is to support active-duty troops who are family members of Robson Ranch residents. Scott introduced our master of ceremonies Jim Galbraith and his wife Susan. Jim made a short presentation and then introduced five local residents who had military careers and represent the five branches of the service. They were Mike Sabo, U.S. Army; Jim Karlowicz, U.S. Navy; Frank Freisheim, U.S. Coast Guard; Bob Muldrow, U.S. Air Force; and Johnny Eason, U.S. Marines.

Announcing the September program! The September luncheon is Monday, Sept. 4. The speaker is Debby Rogers. She is a professional organizer and a collectibles consultant. The program promises to be a fun and informative venue offering enlightening tips regarding “getting rid of” items that are no longer wanted while determining the value of our collectibles through her insights and advice.
