Robson Ranch Music Club Ends Year on a High Note!

Frances Hackley, Publicity Chair

The Robson Ranch Music Club ended the year with two marvelously successful events, the first of which was the Christmas at the Ranch concert on the 21st and 22nd of December. The audience was again wowed with a wonderful selection of holiday tunes performed by the Robson Ranch Community Choir. Friends, family, and neighbors alike came and enjoyed an absolutely dazzling concert. Under the direction of Dr. Arturo Ortega, accompanied on piano by Paul Lees’ feathering fingers and an array of other talented musicians, the sumptuous music encompassed the room like a warm hug. Some fan favorites were “What Sweeter Music”, “The First Noel”, and of course, “White Christmas”. While the men did a rousing rendition of “The Little Drummer Boy”, the ladies soothed with a traditional French Carol “Il Est Ne” (“He is Born”), and the choir’s melancholy “The Road to Bethlehem”, awed. The audience joined in on a Christmas song sing-a-long. To delight the little ones, for it wouldn’t be a Christmas concert without him, there was a visit with Santa (Dick Hennings). The concert ended with “Peace, Peace, Peace” sung by the choir while Melba Beckham led the audience in singing “Silent Night”. A moving, invigorating, and inspiring moment was felt by all.

The club’s other noteworthy event was the New Year’s Eve Dinner/Dance. The evening started with a generous buffet dinner of chicken with red pepper sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls. and chocolate lava cake. Once everyone was too full to move, of course that is exactly what they needed to do. Move it, shake it, and wiggle it! So, that is what they did! The Young at Heart Big Band was there for the enjoyment of ear and foot alike. Folks enjoyed songs from the ’40s to the ’80s. The band did songs folks could waltz, jitterbug, cha cha, rumba, or swing to. Some songs that were special favorites were “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, “Feelings”, “Hey Jude”, “Night Train”, “New York, New York”, and “Georgia on My Mind”. It was a great way to celebrate a good year and the beginning of a great New Year to come. Old friends enjoyed each other while making wonderful new friends. A fun festive evening of enjoyment and fond memories was made. A special thank you to the special events coordinator for the Music Club, Janie Farnsworth, and her crew of worker bees for all the hard work in making the evening so special for all who attended.

The Music Club would like to thank all those who have supported our events this past year. We are looking forward to bringing more events in the future for your enjoyment. Continue to watch for our announcements. Follow us for all information about the Music Club on our website at rrmusicclub.com.
