Support Our Troops wishes to thank all who made donations to our Veterans Day Silent Auction and to those who participated in the auction. SOT members solicited businesses and individuals and collected 407 items valued at over $47,400 and over $3,300 in cash donations. Members staffed the SOT auction table in the clubhouse for six weeks preceding the auction to provide auction information, collect donations and sell the 50/50 raffle tickets. Total sales reached a record $3,140 with $1,570 going to the winner. Twenty-six SOT members worked six hours to set up the auction display on November 10 under the direction of co-chair Barbara Runner. Over 50 members worked the 14-hour auction on November 11, and 17 volunteers organized and distributed the items to the winning bidders on November 12 under the direction of co-chair Carol Hilton. The results of the SOT volunteers hard work was a record $29,400 to be added to our 2015 giving budget.

During the first week of December, the Correspondence Team prepared and forwarded Christmas cards containing gift cards to the service men and women on our support roster. The shipping team shopped, packed and forwarded special Christmas shipments to the 12 on the support roster who are deployed overseas. The five of that group who are deployed to a combat zone were also sent larger unit shipments to share with their comrades. A special shipment was forwarded to the Morale Welfare and Recreation Center that we are supporting in Afghanistan. It was a great year for SOT as we saw our shipments being shared with over 3,000 military personnel in the field and with the thousands who flocked to the MWR Center for rest and relaxation.

On behalf of the SOT Executive Committee and Board of Directors, I again thank you for your support and wish you all a very Happy Holiday.
