“Doin’ the Blues” is a bold, creative collection of painting and mixed media art. Artists in the Paint & Palette Club (P&P) are using predominantly blue colors to create a unique exhibit the week of May 8 in the RR clubhouse lobby. It is open to the public!
Meet the artists at the Opening Reception on May 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the clubhouse lobby to immerse yourself in the Blues! A cash bar will be available, and there will be hors d’oeuvres.
• Oct. 15-20: Mark your calendar to attend our Fall Exhibit.
• Oct. 17: Meet the artists at the Opening Reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
• May 29: Memorial Day Evening “Lantern Launch” at the outdoor pool to memorialize your loved ones
Third Monday Art Experience:
On the third Monday of most months, the Paint & Palette Club offers an art class for Robson Ranch residents. Some are demonstrations, and others are hands-on workshops. The class meets in the Indian Paintbrush Room of the CATC building (Room 103). Watch Robson HOA club/activity emails to learn how to register for the classes and the specific times offered (generally 1 to 3 p.m.).
• March 20-27: Tissue Painting Workshop with artist Carolyn Buchmann. This session requires two weeks to complete your project.
• April 17: Demo/Workshop (artist TBD)
• May 15: Paint and Pass Workshop with artist Judie Smothers
• June 19: Paper Painting Workshop with artist Jan Marx
• July 17: Pouring Workshop with artist Kathy McMahon
• Aug. 21: Watercolor Demonstration with artist Francesca Romano
• Sept. 18: Simple Butterfly Bookmaking with artist Karla Bennetsen
Are you interested in joining the Paint & Palette Club? Come visit Monday mornings to meet the P&P group and get a feel for the fun we have. If you join our group, you’ll make new friends, get a sense of community, and learn new art techniques. The club meets every Monday in the CATC building, Room 103, from 9:30 a.m. on (come and go as your schedule permits). Bring your current project or painting and supplies.
The group is comprised of professional artists, beginning artists who started learning at retirement, former art teachers, self-taught artists, and people who have had other careers but have taken years of art lessons. Monday’s club gathering is “unstructured,” which allows you to work, visit, and learn from each other. Yearly dues are $10 and may be paid to Pat Heberling, treasurer, on Monday mornings.
For those who are Paint & Palette Club members, we offer additional sessions. If you are “floundering” on a part of your painting or project and want additional suggestions, Judie Smothers hosts the Second Monday Art Critique each month. Join Judie Smothers and your P&P peers to gain insight and ideas about your work in a relaxed, open, informal setting. Our second Monday critique group meets at 1 p.m. in Room 103.
Periodically, Francesca Romano, Paint & Palette Club president, shares her expert knowledge of art history via a “Spotlight” presentation with our club. Her next session for P&P members is April 24 at 1 p.m. in Room 103. The session, “Three Dynamic Women Artists,” is a presentation on Artemisia Gentileschi, Georgia O’Keefe, and Frida Kahlo.
