Tonya will candidly discuss her personal journey—the good, the bad, and the unexpected—and how she has found a lasting joy through God’s love, even amidst suffering. Many of us spend our lives chasing happiness only to find that real-life circumstances often make it fleeting. Yet, the Bible calls us to “be joyful always,” a message that can seem impossible and almost crazy and out of reach in today’s world.
Tonya will show us that joy is not only possible but meant to be ours, even in the face of hardship. She will share how joy differs from fleeting happiness; it is a deep, unwavering belief that pain and loss do not have the final word. This defiant joy allows us to remain present, facing life’s highs and lows with hope and faith. Tonya will offer practical insights on maintaining this joyful perspective, one that embraces both pain and goodness, while looking toward heaven for strength.
With over 40 years in ministry, Tonya Jackson is a leader and encourager who has dedicated her life to uplifting others. Married for 38 years, she and her husband are parents to three sons and proud grandparents to a cherished granddaughter. Tonya currently serves as an Associate Campus Pastor at Gateway Church where she oversees NexGen ministries and leads Guest Experience volunteers. She also teaches Bible school and continues to inspire her community with her dedication to faith.
