And so the sun sets on another RRWGA Club Championship Tournament with a new name to add to the trophy. Forty lady golfers showed up for two days to compete and to find out who could keep it together for 36 holes. At the end of day one, everyone was still just as much in the dark as when they started out that morning. The lowest gross score for the Club Championship is almost always going to be between a half-dozen golfers, and any one of those could be the winner at the end of the second day.

This year’s lowest gross score for the 36-hole tournament was recorded by Sheri Watkins who shot a very impressive 150. The Silver Cup is awarded to the lady with the lowest two-day gross score among the players teeing off from the silver tees. Gabi Bull won the Silver Cup Championship by shooting a 188. The Robson Cup is always a mystery until the last ball is holed out on day two. Diane Bent recorded the lowest two-day net score with a 140. This was a repeat performance for Diane. She won this award 10 years ago and was heard to say, “I think I shot better today than I did in 2015.”

We were all winners as we toasted with champagne and a gourmet lunch fit for champions. Thanks to Jan Henson, Sue Clearfield, Valerie O’Neal, Jamey Sifert, and Staci Brown for putting together another great event for the RRWGA.
