Recent Robson Ranch African American Social Group (AASG) 2023 activities included:

1. January: Martin Luther King Day service project—clean-up of the Lewisville, Texas, Champion-Macedonia Cemetery, a burial place of African Americans dating back to the early 1800s

2. February: Black History Month “Food Saved Me,” African American Nutrition Seminar with guest speaker Jacquelyne Samuels, Platinum Premier Distributor with Saladmaster and prominent educator in the Black/African American community

3. March: Hosted an information table at the Robson Ranch Club Open House

4. May: Memorial Vigil promoting peace, awareness, and diversity, co-sponsored with the Voices United Diversity-in-Action Group

5. June: Advisor for the Robson HOA sponsored the Juneteenth Celebration, which included a patio party at the Grill with live music by Denton’s popular jazz band Fingerprints, followed by an AASG-sponsored showing of the documentary Juneteenth, featuring Denton’s Dr. Donald Cox and Opal Lee, the grandmother of Juneteenth

6. June: Co-sponsor of the June 15 Robson Ranch Living Well Committee’s hosting of Sergeant Kyle Bradford of the Texas Department of Public Safety who presented a topic on Reacting to an Active Shooter Situation

7. Ongoing: Small group socials, game nights, joint discussion groups, book/movie reviews, and outings with the Voices United Diversity-in-Action Group

The AASG is a Robson Ranch club open to African American residents and their spouses, family members, and friends. They enjoy dining out together, hosting game nights, classes, cultural activities, seminars, trips, and volunteer activities. Their events are open to all Robson Ranch residents, and they aim to share information about African American history, culture, experiences, knowledge, skills, businesses, etc.
