Cycling Club Starts to Roll

Randy Catron and John Jordan

The Robson Ranch Cycling Club continues to grow and organize, with more than 60 Robson Ranch residents now on the club roster.

The club held their initial meeting in late June and decided to formally develop a club with leadership positions as well as club committees. Randy Catron and John Jordan will serve as the club leaders until the club holds its first election.

The club initiated a Monthly Meeting Committee and Ride Committee. The Monthly Meeting Committee will coordinate the club’s monthly meetings, which will be held on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the CATC building.

Monthly meeting topics being considered include Ride Safety, Basic Bicycle Maintenance, Cycling Technique, Cycling Health and Nutrition, and Cycling Equipment. Members will also have an opportunity to share their recent cycling adventures at the monthly meeting.

The Ride Committee will develop and manage the weekly and monthly ride events in and around Robson Ranch. Ride announcements and details will be included in one of the daily HOA activity announcements.

Ideas are being suggested and discussed for both rides and monthly meetings. Currently, there are two scheduled weekly rides: the Robson Ramble on Friday mornings at 7 a.m. and “Going Off the Ranch” at 7 a.m. on Wednesdays (from the Michelle gate). The number and types of rides will be expanded over the coming months as the club becomes established and the weather cools.

From Sept. 1 through Sept. 29, the club will sponsor two events for the Robson Olympics. A Total Distance Contest and Most 5-Mile or More Rides will be the events. To participate, sign up with Robson Olympics during the registration period.
