Paint and Palette Club is proud to claim Donna Shuford as one of their highly accomplished artists. However, she is very humble about her works, giving praise to the club. With a smile, she states how much enjoyment and inspiration she receives by socializing with other artists in the club. Donna is looking forward to completing a new painting for the upcoming Spring Exhibition “Symphony of Color” which will take place in Robson’s Clubhouse Lobby from May 17 to 24.
Donna expresses the beauty she finds in nature through her own ‘visual vocabulary’. She enjoys working in a variety of media including collage, etching, linocut, batik and watercolor to achieve new styles of presentation.
Donna’s interest in watercolor blossomed when her husband’s career took their family to Paris, France. There she focused on watercolor at the Cite International Des Arts. Returning to the United States, Donna co-owned Gallery VIII in Plano before relocating to Colorado. Travel was then her focus, enjoying art studies in Italy, Spain, Mexico and Peru. She has won awards from several prestigious groups and many of her works have been featured in books such as Best of American Watermedia Artists.
Donna states, “My art is a search to develop my own shape images to express the wonder and magic that exists in natural forms. In my recent paintings, I explore the theme of “Regeneration” where I use the images of shells, seeds and plants. My wish is to offer the viewer a new way of viewing the sensuous forms in the beautiful natural world that surrounds us.”
