Elections are coming up again in 2022 with many of Texas’ top statewide offices up for grabs. Democrats are setting their sights once again on Texas in these midterm elections, as the state consistently finds itself in the thick of national news. They’re retooling their messaging and fielding candidates in state legislative and U.S. House races.
Democrats launched new strategies to harness the momentum to win statewide races and make congressional and legislative gains. To prepare for the challenge, the RR Democratic Club hosted Ira Bershad, spokesperson for Denton Together, at its October monthly meeting.
Denton Together, staffed entirely by volunteers, works tirelessly to elect strong, progressive Democrats in Denton County. Their mission—recruit and support candidates who will govern with compassion, empathy, and integrity; candidates who will fight for voting rights, human rights, healthcare, public education, and averting climate change. Additionally, they organize volunteer projects designed to encourage “get out the vote” by registering voters, making phone calls, texting voters, writing and mailing postcards, and delivering voting literature door-to-door.
Through Denton Together’s determined efforts, progressives are winning elections in Denton County. The representatives they’ve helped into office continue to move Denton County forward and bring real, lasting change to our neighborhoods. But the work doesn’t stop there. Supporting leaders in Denton, Lewisville, and Little Elm who advocate progressive values is a year-round Democratic organizing effort.
There are no “off years” in politics, so let’s get to work! You, too, can become better informed on the issues affecting our community at the local, state, and national level. Come join the RR Democratic Club on the fourth Thursday of each month, at 7 p.m., in the clubhouse. For more information, contact [email protected].
