The Aug. 16 meeting of the Robson Ranch Conservative Club was a great success. At least 75 people attended eager to hear District 64 Representative Lynn Stucky speak on the issues facing the 88th Texas Legislature. He was short on details and didn’t elaborate on any of the votes he made. He also made the choice to not answer why he voted against other bills. He mentioned there will be a few more meetings of the legislature before the year is out.
On stage asking the questions was Jill Glover, member of the Republican Executive Committee for Senate District 12. Questions for Representative Stucky were compiled prior to the meeting by club members. The topics of the questions were related to the Texas GOP Priorities. During the 2022 Primary, voters responded to 10 legislative priorities of the Republican Party of Texas. The top eight were as follows (voter approval rate in parenthesis):
1. Protecting our elections (98%)
2. Protecting Texans by securing the border (93%)
3. Ban gender modification of children (92%)
4. Stop sexualizing Texas kids (94%)
5. Ban Democrat committee chairs (81%)
6. Abolish abortion in Texas (83%)
7. Defend gun rights (85%)
8. Enforce parental rights and educational freedoms (91%)
Unfortunately, Rep. Stucky voted for only two of the eight priorities. While the most-asked topic was the impeachment of AG Paxton and why Rep. Stucky voted for it, he was unable to answer any questions due to the gag order that the House placed on the proceedings.
Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings. We have no dues requirements to attend. We meet the third Wednesday of each month in the Lone Star Room at the clubhouse at 6 p.m.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. Mr. Andy Hopper, candidate for District 64, will be our guest speaker. He is a self-subscribed Constitutional Conservative and believes the government should be returned to the citizens.
