Welcome to spring friend! The world around us here in North Texas is starting to warm up. With the earth slowly starting to wake up from a cold, sleepy winter we are seeing small glimpses of the bright spring ahead of us. It is easy to be inspired to bring the sunshine indoors with the sun deciding to peak out from behind the clouds and these slowly rising temperatures. Luckily for us, whites, beiges, and creams are taking over the world of neutrals this season and are the perfect colors to use to help achieve this goal. So, throw open the draperies this spring friend and let the light in while we let you in on a few new ways to update your home for spring.
For starters, spring is all about new beginnings. We’ve focused a lot on bringing in new luxurious textures into the home lately. However, with warmer weather on the way, it is a good idea to start packing up your winter décor and switching it out for lighter, more breathable fabrics. For example, heavy draperies are perfect for creating a welcoming, cozy atmosphere during the holidays and winter months, but come springtime in Texas, they can start to feel suffocating in the home. Try storing them away for the warmer months and opting for a lightweight linen drapery to frame your windows instead. The billowing fabric will still bring softness into your room while also allowing for more sunshine to stream through your windows. As mentioned, whites, beiges, and creams are finding their way back into the home through more natural finishes and paint colors. Matching your wall color or using a complimentary color in the draperies can add elegance to your space without obstructing the view from your windows.
If you are a minimalist and enjoy crisper, cleaner lines, try opting for no draperies at all. Instead a soft shade in the window can achieve this look as well. Some of our favorites are the Hunter Douglas Silhouette Shades. These shades offer a level of privacy without compromising the natural light brought into the room or the beautiful view from your window. The lack of draperies or treatments around the window will give the room a more sophisticated atmosphere. However, the soft window treatments inside the window will still soften the room and continue to give it a cozy feeling during the spring.
