Joan Muyskens Pursley
The Robson Ranch Library and Friends of the Library (FOL) introduced their first-ever website, RobsonLibrary.org. The site was designed and built by Roberta (Bert) Zeitlin, who has also created sites for the RR Women’s Club, Dance Club, Music Club, Road Runners Club, and Line-Dance Club. Working with Bert on content and the organization of information were Linda Terry, President of the Library Board; FOL Chair Alan Albarran; and Joan M. Pursley, Library Board member. Linda Bono, past chair of FOL, was the site’s proofreader extraordinaire.
The library, located in the Creative Arts Center, is free and open daily to all Robson Ranch residents. The library’s board and staff are all volunteers. FOL is an official RR club. It was formed several years ago to advocate for the library, increase community awareness of it, and support its board. It is a 501(c)(3) organization; annual dues are $10 per person.
The new website features upcoming library and FOL events, Pioneer Press articles about the library and FOL, a slew of photos taken at special library/FOL events, lists of the two groups’ boards, information on volunteering, and new donations (all library materials have been donated by residents), a brief history of our library, and much more.
The library contains fiction and non-fiction books (including large-print books), a paperback book exchange, DVDs, CDs, and jigsaw puzzles. The room has free WiFi, several computers and a printer for residents’ use, plus a comfortable reading area. It is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors are asked to sign in and out.
The library is staffed on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and part-time on weekends. When no volunteers are present, you can check out books using a simple form on the front desk. Paperback fiction does not need to be checked out; all other materials contain a four-digit library inventory number used for checking in/out. There are drop boxes for returns. There is also a box on the front desk for dues and donations to FOL.
