Happy Tails Dog Club is off to an energetic and inspiring start this Spring, blending expert advice, community spirit, and a shared love of dogs into a lineup of events that is drawing attention across the Ranch.

At the club’s March 15 meeting, members were treated to a special appearance by fellow resident and retired veterinarian, Dr. Steve Menzies, DVM. With decades of experience in veterinary medicine, Dr. Menzies offered a fascinating look at his career journey, sharing memorable moments from his years in practice. What began as a personal introduction quickly turned into a lively and engaging Q&A session, where members had the rare opportunity to ask candid questions about their pets’ health and behavior. The result was an informative—and often entertaining—discussion that left attendees both enlightened and appreciative.

Building on that momentum, the club is turning its focus to one of its most impactful efforts of the year: the Fourth Annual Pet Food Drive, running through the entire month of April. In partnership with the Denton Animal Support Foundation, donations will benefit a range of vital local programs, especially the Pet Food Pantry at the Linda McNatt/City of Denton Animal Shelter. The Pet Food Pantry provides essential support to individuals and families facing financial hardship, helping ensure their beloved pets remain cared for and at home.

Last year, the Robson Ranch community demonstrated remarkable generosity by donating 3,526 pounds of pet food. This year, the Happy Tails Dog Club is aiming even higher, inviting residents to come together once again in support of pets and their people. Drop-off boxes are at the following addresses: 9405 Trailwood Drive, 10101 Soriano Street, 12524 Copper Ore Way, 9616 Orangewood Trail, 10801 Southerland Drive, 8201 Osprey Drive, 11505 Parkcrest Drive, 9512 Rivercrest Drive, 10517 Murray S. Johnson Street

The club’s upcoming meetings promise to keep the excitement going. On April 11, Elizabeth Test, Executive Director of Happy Pet Project, will speak about the organization’s rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption work across Texas. Her presentation will highlight how foster-based, all-breed rescues collaborate with shelters to reduce overpopulation and promote responsible pet ownership.

In May, members will get a glimpse into the world of elite canine competition when Robson Ranch resident Deborah Diehl shares highlights from the 150th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York. With more than 3,000 champion dogs participating, the event is one of the most prestigious in the country, and Diehl’s insider perspective promises a behind-the-scenes look at the excitement and excellence of the show ring.

The Happy Tails Dog Club meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in Room 103 of the CATC building. Open to all dog lovers, the club welcomes new members for just $10 per household annually.

With a full calendar of engaging speakers and a strong commitment to giving back, the Happy Tails Dog Club continues to prove that at Robson Ranch, community and compassion go hand in hand—one wagging tail at a time.
