What a Senior Olympics at the horseshoe pits this year. Thirteen residents competed in three competitions. The matches were extremely close and we never have seen so many ringers being made and then topped by the opponent.

In the end, returning as the number one horseshoe thrower and gold medal winner was Bob Cook. Taking the silver medal was Terry Duffield, and the bronze was Doug Hagan.

In the Ringers competition, Joey Misiaszek took gold, Steve Bentley took silver, and Terry Duffield took bronze.

In the total points competition, Joey Misiaszek took gold, Steve Bentley took silver, and Terry Duffield took bronze.

It should be noted that women can also participate as attested by the play of Ellen Gilgore. She has beaten almost every man there and would welcome other women to enjoy this great sport. So, come one and come all every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1 p.m.

We would be remiss if we didn’t thank volunteers Sheryl Cook, Judy Ripple-Karr, and Kitty Misiaszek along with our fantastic sponsor, Guy and Nancy Myers of Cool Screens Texas. Thank you all.
