On Oct. 5 the Rockin’ Red Ranchers conquered “The Real Unreal” at Meow Wolf in the Grapevine Mills Mall. For those of you who haven’t heard of this or experienced it, Meow Wolf is an interactive and immersive experience that brings together Texas and Santa Fe artists to create unique environments that redefine the paradigm of art and storytelling. No two visitors will have quite the same experience as they move from room to room in a simple family home that is anything but ordinary!

For almost two hours, we explored this creative world and seemingly traveled through space and time. Opening doors led to alternate spaces. Climbing into a dryer in the laundry room and sliding down a chute brought us to another new space. Opening the refrigerator in the kitchen led to a room full of refrigerator doors. These took us to more rooms and environments decorated in colors and patterns and unique art murals. Age was irrelevant as we enjoyed the experience with childish abandon and joy of discovery! After we found each other again and congregated in the garden of the house, we headed off to Chili’s for lunch and to share our experiences.

Thanks to Dolores Wilson and Nita Ice for coordinating an activity for us that was unique, creative, and mind expanding.
