Were you ever a fan of Angela Lansbury and Murder, She Wrote? How about Private Benjamin? Scarecrow and Mrs. King? The Paper Chase? Those of us who would answer “yes” were captivated by guest speaker and Robson Ranch resident Lynne Kelsey at the recent Liberty Belles Spring Tea, held in the Patriot/Legacy Rooms at the Robson Ranch clubhouse. Seventy women came to hear her speak on her professional life as a script writer for television in the ‘80s. Mrs. Kelsey is a wife and mother who also taught high school English for 15 years and currently teaches sessions for OLLI. Her presentation included a PowerPoint of the stars she worked with, as well as mementos and personal artifacts from her earlier career. It was all so entertaining and enjoyable!

In addition to Mrs. Kelsey, Sherrie Brown shared a beautiful display of her personal Russian teacup and samovar collection, along with a quilt she made from squares with handwritten sentiments from Russian students who participated in President Ronald Reagan’s International Student Exchange Program. She and her husband hosted students in their home, and their son Matthew was a program participant in Russia in the ‘80s.

Liberty Belles Chairwoman Judy Martin-Tafoya welcomed the ladies and introduced Carol Boyd for an opening prayer, followed by Julie Greenawalt with an informative talk on the history of tea and how it is produced. Lizzie Wickert and Heather Darby related their personal tea experiences as well. At their beautifully decorated tables, the ladies in attendance all shared stories behind the personal teacups they had brought with them. Each table had various teacups on display or for use, sugar bowls and creamers, colorful teapots filled with boiling water, an assorted selection of tea bags, and tiered plate racks filled with tea sandwiches, pimento cheese-stuffed celery, cinnamon scones, lemonade bars, and strawberries. These dainty delights made for a decidedly ladylike occasion!

Guests included Bible Study friends of Liberty Belle Jeanette Bliss, family members of Liberty Belle Connie Karlowicz, and HD 64 candidate Andy Hopper’s wife Amanda. A special thank you to Shelbi and the Wildhorse Grill staff for going out of their way to make this a memorable event for everyone. What a wonderful “girl time” we all had together, right here at Robson Ranch!
