The Women’s Club continued the 250th celebration of our country’s founding at their July meeting. Jeffrey Barnes and Friends entertained the members playing patriotic tunes with a Dixieland twist. A highlight of the program was the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” with everyone singing along. Joining Barnes were Robert Hokamp on guitar, Greg Beck on drums, and Carl Kleinsteuber on French horn.
The members of the club’s Community Outreach Committee are busy preparing for two fundraising events in October. On Oct. 3, the club will hold its annual Holiday Market benefiting Our Daily Bread, and on Oct. 17 they will have a Bocce Tournament fundraiser benefiting the Children’s Advocacy Center.
Every month, the club invites the luncheon attendees to contribute to one of the organizations it supports through Share the Blessings. This month, $570 was raised for the Children’s Advocacy Center.
One of the advantages of being a member of the Women’s Club is the chance to participate in their trips. Recently, some of the ladies traveled to Oklahoma City, where they toured the area for three days. Coming up is a trip to Sweetwater, Texas, to tour Avenger Field, the only all-women airfield of World War II and learn the contribution of women pilots to the country’s victory in World War II. The next Club luncheon will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Cyndie Sledge, a versatile vocalist with more than 30 years of experience singing a wide range of music genres, will perform. Reservations must be made by Monday, Aug. 31, at 8 a.m. Checks can be placed in the white mailbox in the Sports Center Women’s Lounge or paid by credit card on the website at www.rrwomensclub.org. The menu will be chicken parmesan with fettuccine, Caesar salad, and bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
The Robson Ranch Women’s Club is open to all women residing at Robson Ranch. It is a 501(c)7 corporation.
