Pastor Virgil Lee
Have you ever looked at your life and wondered how all the pieces fit together?
Some seasons feel beautiful and meaningful, while others seem filled with uncertainty, disappointment, or loose ends. From our perspective, life can sometimes look more like a collection of knots than a finished masterpiece. But God sees the whole picture.
At New Life Church, we have begun a new series called “Tapestry.” In this series, we are exploring the core values that shape who we are as a church family: values rooted in God’s Word and reflected in the way we live, serve, worship, and care for one another. These values can encourage anyone who desires to grow in faith and follow Jesus.
Values are more than words displayed on a wall. They are the convictions and practices that shape a culture. What we truly value is revealed not only by what we say, but also by how we respond to people and circumstances.
For example, imagine seeing the words, “Take everything to the Lord in prayer,” displayed in an office. That statement reflects a value. However, if someone shared a personal struggle and the response was only, “That is hard. I’ll be thinking about you,” the actual message would be very different. It might suggest that prayer is not truly trusted or practiced. Our values become visible in how we live, not just in what hangs on a wall.
A tapestry is a beautiful work of art woven from many individual threads. Throughout history, tapestries have told stories of important events, family histories, and meaningful moments. Similarly, God weaves the many threads of our lives—our experiences, relationships, joys, challenges, and even our struggles—into a story that can bring Him glory.
The apostle Paul offers this encouragement in Philippians 1:6: “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
If you feel unfinished, uncertain, or discouraged, remember this: God is not finished with you yet. As long as we are on this earth, He is still working in us and through us. He is patiently shaping our lives in His time and according to His purpose.
You may not be able to see how every thread fits together today, but the Master Craftsman can. Your story matters, and God can use it to point others toward hope, healing, and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Be encouraged and blessed. The Lord loves you, and He is still weaving your story. When you place your life in His hands, no thread will be out of place in the end.
If you are looking for a church home, we would love to welcome you to New Life Church on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. in the clubhouse. Whether you have attended church for years or are simply curious about faith, there is a place for you.
