NxNW visits Edge of the Lake
Cherlyn Conway
May 14 marked the start of summer activities for twenty-six NxNW neighbors, who headed to Edge of the Lake Winery in Valley View for a road trip.
You know the saying “don’t let the grass grow under your feet” for those constantly on the go? That could be a possible mission statement for the Osprey, Brant, Cinnamon, and Willet neighborhood, also known as NxNW. There always seems to be something happening that keeps this neighborhood moving.
Because Karen Lyons knows the winery owners well, she was able to arrange a special tasting for the group. Chris McIntosh, the lead winemaker, guided everyone through five wines while explaining the process used to make each one.
The outing was a nice change of pace, giving everyone a chance to get out of the ranch, enjoy new scenery, and spend quality time with friends and neighbors. Several neighbors were even able to carpool, adding to the fun of the day.
In addition to the great wines, there were yummy appetizers to enjoy. That was a very welcome bonus for many of the ladies in the group, who felt they had dinner covered for the evening and did not have to ask that age-old question: “What do you want for dinner tonight?”
Everyone returned safely to the ranch, and even those who were not wine connoisseurs—or who may have simply gone along for the “ride”—seemed to enjoy the time with friends and neighbors.
A big thank-you goes to Karen for organizing this outing through one of our monthly ladies’ Whine Chat gatherings. We are blessed to be part of a neighborhood with so many people willing to step up and work hard to keep us connected as friends and neighbors.
With many more NxNW activities planned for 2026, we look forward to sharing more of our escapades and hope to catch up with you in the next Pioneer Press.
