Pilot Knob Rotary Club had an eventful January, inducting new members, providing interesting and informative programs, and planning current and future projects.

We kicked off the year with the new member orientation at The Wildhorse Grill led by Membership Chair Dolores Kearney. New and current members enjoyed lunch and an overview of Rotary International, including Rotary’s major global initiatives and Pilot Knob Rotary’s 2021 focus projects in our community.

For former Rotary members who are recent residents to Robson Ranch, Argyle, Northlake, or the greater Denton area, Pilot Knob Rotary hosts weekly local speakers who share information about events, experiences, and activities, as well as the rich history that makes the Denton area such a great place to call home. We welcome anyone interested in joining us.

On Jan. 22, Josh Butler, Founder and President of Denton’s Thin Line Fest, was our guest speaker. Now in its 14th year, Thin Line is the largest documentary film festival in Texas, and exhibits the best of local and global filmmakers. In 2014, Thin Line added Denton’s music and photography venues to its repertoire by including live music in local bars, photo exhibits in public spaces, and multiple film showings across all three Denton theaters.

This year, Thin Line Fest will be held online from March 24 through 28 at www.thinline.us. There is no charge, just select the film or music venue you want to attend and log on. Filmmakers from around the world will join online to talk about their films and answer your questions.

Pilot Knob Rotary wrapped up January with a blood drive in the Robson Ranch clubhouse parking lot. Carter BloodCare accepted 25 donors. They also provided COVID-19 antibody testing at no charge. Donors received gifts courtesy of The Dallas Mavericks basketball team.
