The Robson Ranch Catholic Club met on November 10 at the lovely home of Dr. and Mrs. Bert Mullan. There was a short meeting followed by our guest speakers’ presentations. Our first guest speaker was Randy Bolling from the Loreto House here in Denton. The Loreto House is a Catholic pregnancy center that serves woman of all faiths with unplanned pregnancies. The Loreto House is a sanctuary of hope for women dealing with an unplanned pregnancy. They offer free pregnancy testing and parenting classes and non-judgemental assistance. They also have a 4D sonogram so that the women can see their babies and listen to their baby’s heartbeat at 5-1/2 weeks. Thirty-seven hundred babies a day die from abortion. Only two percent of the mothers put their babies up for adoption.
Our next guest speaker was Bob Stewart from Our Daily Bread. Our Daily Bread serves a nutritious lunch every day for those in need. In October they started serving the evening meal. Our Daily Bread has 2,283 clients enrolled since January 2011, 1,248 of whom are homeless and 100 children who are under 18 years of age. Volunteers are always needed as they provide approximately 27,000 hours of service per year. At Our Daily Bread they provide their clients services and referrals: social service referrals, supplemental nutrition assistance program, weekend snack packs for the homeless clients, bus passes for medical appointments, job interviews, social service appointments and prescription pick up, personal hygiene items, shower passes with Denton Parks and Recreation Dept., laundry and gas vouchers and a number of other services.
