On Jan. 23 the RR Photo Club held its annual awards event at an Italian buffet in the Grill. A review of 2022 was presented, along with upcoming events and announcement of the officers for 2023. In the Image of the Year award category, first place in Basic went to Kitz Parker for Luxor Egypt Man Ironing. First place in Advanced went to Clay Hodson for Chuck Wagon Cook, and in Master, first place was awarded to Dick Remski for Insect Patrol. The club’s overall Image of the Year went to Clay Hodson for Chuck Wagon Cook. These images will be on display during February in the Photo Club’s display window next to the library in the CATC.

Awards were then presented to the Photographer of the Year in each of the three club divisions. The Basic Photographer of the Year was presented to John Steen. Photographer of the Year for Advanced division was awarded to Clay Hodson, and in Master division, Peter Hollatz was recognized as Photographer of the Year. The three Photographers of the Year have their names engraved on our perpetual plaque, which will also be on display in the club’s window.

As part of the program, Clay Hodson, editor of our Photogram newsletter, presented a summary of the first year of our new monthly newsletter. Carol Culkin then gave a short summary of our club photo tour of West Texas on our “Cowboys and Canyonlands” trip, and images from the participants on that trip will be in the club display window in March or April.

Officers for 2023 are Dick Remski, president; Clay Hodson, vice president; and Mary Ornberg, treasurer.
