Robson Riders Motorcycle Club: Learn, Ride, Eat…repeat

Stan Brein

Becoming better motorcycle riders and maintaining the safety of everyone are priorities for our club. Continuous training for members is essential. Mike Conley and Dennis Dotson helped move us toward that goal by leading a Bluetooth Communications Training and a Road Captain and Sweep Training on May 1. Most of the club members now have some type of communication capability while riding, allowing riders to keep in touch and adapt as we go. Road Captains lead the ride and Sweeps ride at the back, ensuring all are keeping pace. The information and presentation were great and the training was well attended.

What a great lunch ride to Twisted Root Hamburger Company in Roanoke on Tuesday, May 8. We were absent a Ride Captain until Steve Haugen, once again, stepped up to lead the ride suggested by Mike Conley and planned by Stan Brein. Steve Haugen, Martin Munoz, LT Bryant, Jim Olson, John Nagy and Stan Brein ventured out for some of the best burgers you can get in the area. They have a large variety of meats and the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. And, of course, you get your moment of fame when you are handed a celebrity name to use for picking up your order. Riding the back roads around Alliance airport makes you realize how much development is happening in the area. New homes, retail, restaurants and office space are sprouting everywhere.

The club trip to the Texas Hill Country came off well on May 10-13. Dennis and Pan Dotson, Rick and Yvonne Hales, Vicki and Scott Baker, Dee and Jim Sico, Elaine and Edward Barnett, Mary and LT Baker and Steve and Donna Williams participated. Read about the wonderful scenery, roads and cuisine in Vicki Baker’s article in this Pioneer Press edition.

The club held its quarterly membership meeting on May 17 at the Grill Board Room. We dined as we looked at pictures and videos of our road escapades (courtesy of Vicki and Scott Baker). New members Roger and Sondra Hardman and Gary and Janis Brooks were welcomed and Mike Conley and Dennis Dotson took us through upcoming local and long distance rides. The club will also have a presence at the annual Robson Ranch July 4th Parade. The dinner this month was to Prairie House in Crossroads, Texas on May 24.

See you on the road!

Beware of cagers and keep the rubber side down!
