In an era of instant communications, so many messages flow through our inbox, we often don’t even open them up. Click. Delete. Click. Delete. And in this digital age, collecting the daily mail just feels like a routine, uneventful task. Yet, there are times when the mail delights and surprises us. Like when we receive a beautiful handmade greeting card.
But the joy isn’t just for the card recipient. Sassy Stampers is all about embracing the happiness and satisfaction that comes from the creative process. From the moment we choose the designs, colors, and textures, we’re embarking on a journey that is uniquely ours.
Take for example our most recent card created by member Joann Gantos—the “Collar Pocket Card.” A Collar Pocket Card is an interactive crafting design using a single sheet of double-sided decorative paper. The upper section is folded down to create a finished lapel or “collar”, while the bottom forms an open pocket. A separate insert card—stamped with a greeting or message—slides right into the pocket for the recipient to pull out.
Each step, whether making the folds, stamping the design, or assembling the final pieces, was filled with moments of discovery and delight. As always, there was a special kind of satisfaction in witnessing our artistic vision come to life. What was even more fulfilling was sharing our handmade creations with others, spreading cheer through our personalized art. In the words of the Mastercard commercial, “That’s priceless.”
Do you love card making as much as we do? Does it give you joy to make a handmade card, write a special note in it, and send it off to surprise someone when they go to the mailbox? Then join Sassy Stampers in the CATC on the third Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. The experience is always enriched by laughter, learning, and the pure pleasure of making something beautiful with your own hands in the company of fellow creators.
