There’s something about autumn that makes us want to wrap up in a sweater and head straight to our craft tables with a warm spiced drink in hand. It’s the perfect time to share handmade kindness with cozy colors, warm textures, and all the inspiration that comes with changing leaves and crisp air. And what better way to welcome in the season than by making our own fall greeting cards?
Need a bit of inspiration to get your own fall card ideas going? Sassy Stampers has got you covered! Jean Euker, club member, inspired by all the rich earth tones here in Texas, shared a simple card idea—a design easy to create but still full of that seasonal charm we all love.
How did we instill autumn into our handmade greeting cards? By using nature as our inspiration, the leaves on our cards were filled with realistic color gradients. We achieved the color variations using distressed inks in hues of burnt orange, deep red, and gold. Each die-cut leaf silhouette was inked in one color then additional colors were added using sponge daubers and blending brushes.
So, maybe the real question should really be: why shouldn’t we make cards during the fall season? That time of year when the air grows a bit colder and trees start transforming into hues of orange, yellow, and brown just screams cozy. Whether we’re celebrating Thanksgiving, special birthdays, anniversaries, or simply the arrival of the season, it was the perfect excuse to make these easy yet beautiful handmade cards combining warm autumn color palettes, textured paper layers, and seasonal nature motifs.
If you love fall as much as we do, then you’ll definitely enjoy using fall colors and elements in your cardmaking. Whether you’re crafting thank you cards, thinking of you notes, or just having fun with stamps, ink, and paper, Sassy Stampers has ideas perfect for getting creative without over-complicating things.
So grab your favorite inks, papers, and stamps and let’s dive in on the third Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the CATC. For more information contact club president Debbie Warrick at 214-668-9441 or debbiew02@verizon.net.
