Theresa L. Peoples, Garden Club President
Attention All Robson Ranch gardeners, it is official, the Clubhouse is open and we will be having our September meeting in the Lone Star Room on Monday, September 21, at 10:30 a.m. Your program chairs, Lori Slocum and Linda Lilley, have been working hard planning our fall meetings. At our first meeting in September, we will welcome Christina Onstott of Escalera Farms. Many of you have already stopped by and visited with our newest vendor at the Farmers Market, Christina & Ricky Onstott. They sell fresh cut flower bouquets both arranged and in a bouquet form, edible flowers, farm fresh herbs, dried flowers, seeds, and starter plants. They grow specialized varieties of many plants that are not commonly found in a grocery store or at your local florist. Their farm is in Justin, Texas. Christina will demonstrate some of her arrangements, and she will give a presentation on soil blocking.
We will be accepting renewal memberships and new membership applications with a check and/or cash of $10 per household. However, the Lone Star is only seating at 50% capacity which means only the first 40 people will be allowed. Please remember we will be wearing masks and practicing safe distancing; the chairs will be spaced as well. We will have several door prizes at all meetings taking place in the clubhouse this year!
We have a field trip planned for our October meeting! We plan to carpool to the Botanical and Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth. Mark October 19 on your calendar because you will not want to miss this trip. There will be a discounted entry fee for seniors, and the Rock Springs Cafe at the gardens has a wonderful menu. Their menu items use the herbs and vegetables straight out of the FW Botanical Gardens. Or, of course you can eat elsewhere but Rock Springs will need a headcount. The program chairs will have more information at the September meeting and you will need to plan to pay with a check (preferable) for the entry fee and the menu item you wish to eat. There will be a deadline announced on September 21 at the meeting.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in September!
