As seniors we continually look for ways to stay fit and healthy. As senior athletes we are keenly aware of the need to strengthen and stretch in the effort to avoid sport injuries.
Brandy Wismer is offering a new program designed specifically for active seniors in sports. During January and February a push was made for pickleball participants. Handout sheets are given to participants for a home routine as well as classroom instruction. The program offers a self-assessment that encompasses a pre-training baseline assessment with a post-training assessment. Currently anyone can enjoy the classes and reap the benefits whether they are involved in sports or not. Yoga will deliver results on and off the court. Increased strength, flexibility and balance are key elements to improving performance and reducing the chance of injuries. For pickleball, tennis players and golfers it can help prevent injuries in the shoulder, elbows and back as well as hamstrings and knees. Tricia Douglas commented, “Brandy’s new yoga program has helped my spinal alignment, balance and focus; all of these help my pickleball game. I appreciate Brandy for this as well as for helping me define the areas of strength I need to build on. I noticed a difference after my first class with her.”
Janelle Roth said, “Yoga with Brandy has provided an exceptional opportunity to gain core strength, flexibility and especially important the balance needed to avoid the dreaded fall on the pickleball court. I appreciate the sense of stability on the court giving me confidence while running down lobs or bending low for a shot (and actually getting back up!). Before my first class with Brandy I had never tried yoga; now I love it! Who knew!”
