Jane Scholz discusses voter turnout, the
power of local politics, and much more at
the March meeting of the Robson Ranch
Democratic Club.

Exciting events at the March monthly meeting! On March 5, Co-President Richard Kushmaul welcomed 30–plus attendees to the Robson Ranch Democratic Club monthly member meeting.
Attendees were told that membership numbers for the Robson Ranch Democratic Club had jumped over the past few months, with the club roster now showing more than 100 members. Yearly membership dues are collected every January, with the option to join later as new residents learn about the club.
Those in attendance discussed the promising voter turnout for recent primary elections. Robson Ranch is one of many polling areas in Denton County, and members from both parties volunteer to man the polls during voting events. Turnout for the primaries was at a healthy high. Denton County reported a much larger turnout of voters in 2026 than in 2024. Robson Ranch noted a 50% increase in Democratic voter turnout from 2024 to 2026.
Members also viewed a video clip from Denton County Democratic Party Chair Delia Parker-Mims, who gave a “State of the County” review. She discussed historically poor voter turnouts in the county, and urged members to “Save Our Selves” as they move forward in Texas politics.
Club member Jane Scholz, who has served the party as a precinct chair, voter registration volunteer and election worker, added to the discussion about the “Save Our Selves” initiative. She explained that money raised by local Democrats pays for fliers, computer IT issues and call banks, and for text messages, yard signs and billboards. She urged members to “give locally, it goes farther than state or national campaigns”.
Members were also encouraged to donate at least $5 or more a month to the Denton County Democratic Party, and to help in other ways by personally volunteering at events and at election sites.
Members were reminded of all upcoming elections, including the Denton City School Board in April. They were also reminded to attend the TGIF social events scheduled periodically at the Robson Ranch Wildhorse Grill. Emphasized, was the importance of raising the visibility and boosting the outreach of the Robson Ranch Democratic Club. Five social events are scheduled in 2026. Details are available on the website at rrdemocraticclub.com.
The Robson Ranch Democratic Club meets the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. for a social exchange, followed by the 6 p.m. program and business meeting, in the Robson Clubhouse. Some months—May, June, July, and December—are reserved for social and holiday events that take the place of the formal business meetings.
