We Are Robson Ranch Conservatives

Steve Sullivan

Why does Robson Ranch Conservatives exist? Isn’t there a Republican Club already? One answer for both questions: Not all Republicans are Constitutional Conservatives.

We do share the goal of keeping Texas red. We believe the best way to save Texas and America is to elect strong Constitutional Conservatives. Our mission is to inform and educate voters about issues we are facing, especially whether or not our elected Republican representatives are adhering to constituents’ wishes.

When examining their voting records, some Republicans lose their way. Making friends with the opposition becomes more important than keeping their campaign promises. They say they are “working across the aisle”. That is political talk for making their Austin friends happy while ignoring their constituents.

As a result, Republican priority bills die in committees which are chaired by the opposing party—even though we hold the majority in the Texas House. Therefore, special sessions are required. This makes the Texas House dysfunctional. We must stay as united in supporting our priorities as the Democrats are in supporting theirs.

Robson Ranch Conservatives are interested in more than just state politics. We need to work locally to identify conservative candidates for city, school board, and county positions. Local elections are where it all begins. As our community goes, so goes the county and eventually, the state. “All politics is local.” It is vital we know how our tax dollars are spent.

Over the course of our existence, Robson Ranch Conservatives have hosted many superb speakers who inform, educate, and inspire. We have also hosted candidate forums/debates during the Primaries to assure our choice in the General Election is a conservative one. Of course, a Constitutional Conservative would be our preference. The difference is simple but significant.

Example: a conservative might say, “I am pro-life, but I can’t tell another what to believe”. According to the Constitution the fundamental right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” is for all—even unborn babies.

Or “I am pro-gun but believe red flag laws should exist”.The Second Amendment does not have qualifiers. The amendment speaks of “a well-regulated militia”. That meant local civilians who were “able-bodied”. No other preconditions are mentioned.
