It’s been a month of togetherness and celebration for the Republican Club! On Nov. 8 we gathered at election night parties hosted by members who contacted those in their immediate neighborhoods and opened their homes to watch the returns. New friendships were forged, and old ones were energized as the news from Denton County buoyed our spirits. We congratulate all of our elected officials who are returning to their offices, as well as those starting new positions. We are here to support Republican policies and values!
The festivities continued in December at our annual holiday dinner. Members enjoyed a delicious dinner and a very impressive speaker, Tom Giovanetti. Mr. Giovanetti, president of the Institute for Policy Innovation, a free-market policy think tank located in Irving, spoke on a very timely topic: “What next?” While the results of the recent elections were positive here in Texas, there were disappointments on the national level. Members were served a generous helping of food for thought to take home with them.
We will have another exceptional speaker to start the new year. At our meeting on Jan. 4, 2023, Ashley Smith Thomas, the founder of Freedom’s Fund USA, will present “China ‘s Influence in America and the Threat to our National Security.” She is a current employee of the United States Senate and an Academy Fellow at The Heritage Foundation. A graduate of Liberty University’s School of Law and an Academy Fellow at The Heritage Foundation based in Washington, D.C., Ms. Thomas works toward countering threats that impact freedom in America and abroad and has written extensively on the topic of China and the U.S. We are blessed to have her agree to speak to us—you will not want to miss the January meeting!
From the executive board and committee chairs of the Republican Club: Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, and very Happy 2023!
