Fall is upon us, and rides will be fewer and farther between. October was a good riding month, and there were several opportunities to get in some touring at moderate temperatures before the time change erases daylight.
The regional Progressive International Motorcycle Show (IMS) took place in October. The Dallas/Ft. Worth show was moved from January to October. It was also staged outdoors right up the road at the Texas Motor Speedway, allowing for more room, vendor display tents, and making test rides and stunt shows more feasible. It is always a great place to catch up on the new rides, gear, and accessories.
Several members had a great ride to Turner Falls on Oct. 4. Mike Conley captained this outing. This jaunt to Central Oklahoma is always a scenic ride, and the good weather certainly helped. Top off the views and activities with a stop at DQ, and this made for a great day!
On Oct. 8 a group of members rode to see the NHRA Drag Races at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis. The dragsters are always fun to see, and we will definitely repeat this one.
Upcoming on Saturday, Nov. 27, is the annual Denton County Coats for Kids Ride. The purpose is to provide a new coat for every school child in Denton County who needs one, from preschool to high school. Many of these children have never had the pleasure of receiving a new clothing item.
We urge each of you to consider donating a new coat. Encourage your friends, neighbors, and members of other clubs to which you belong to do the same. Robson Ranch has been very generous with their donations in the past, and we want to continue our support this year. Contact any club member or me, Stan Brein at [email protected], for information or to donate a coat.
An overnight ride is planned for Dec. 3-4 to Granbury, Texas. This will include seeing the show Elf at the legendary Granbury Opera House. This trip is always a great outing.
The highly anticipated annual Holiday Party returns on Dec. 7 at the Italian Bistro. A sumptuous dinner will be followed by the popular White Elephant Gift Exchange. And we will again collect gift cards for Denton families in need.
Enjoy the holidays!
See you on the road!
Beware of cagers, and keep the rubber side down.
