RRWGA Holds Annual Christmas Brunch Awards Celebration and Meeting

The Robson Ranch Women’s Golf Association (RRWGA) had its annual Christmas Brunch/Awards Meeting on Dec. 7 after not being able to have this event since 2019. There were 85-plus ladies in attendance for a wonderful meal and awards presentations.

A wonderful brunch was prepared by Jeremy Trietsch and his staff and was served in courses. First course, upon arrival, was mimosas. Second course was Bloody Marys followed by eggs benedict, arugula salad, and raspberry crepes for dessert. Paula Myers and Sandy Ziegler, our social event planners, prepared a beautiful Christmas setting for the brunch.

Joy Pashby, 2021 RRWGA President, welcomed all the RRWGA members, and the different committee members presented the awards. A departing gift was presented to Joy for her service as president by LaDonna Womochel, 2021 vice president.

The following awards were presented by Handicap Committee members Jamey Siefert and Kay McKie:

Eagles: Kerri Billingsley

Chip-ins: Sue Halsted and Donna Slater

Birdies: Pat Sands and Peggy Puckett

Most Improved Golfer: Jaynie Gornik, improvement of 8.5 strokes

Chris Hagan presented the Ringer Board winners, and they are as follows:

First Place Winners: Marlene Womack, Barb Bettiga, Joy Pashby, Mary Burke, and Peggy Puckett

Second Place Winners: Sue Galinski, Joyce Marshall, Ana Corey, Candy Conway Mikulik, and Bonnie Kohnert

Third Place Winners: Pat Sands, Connie Metzler, Gabie Bull, Jaynie Gornik, and Ruth Bowen

Fourth Place Winners: Cindy Sterling, Cyndi Stampf, Sue Halsted, Donna Slater, and Teresa Blackburn Korn

The highlight of our day was the willingness to share our good fortune with others who could use a helping hand. Our members brought five huge bags of toys to be given to the MGA for their toy drive. Not only did we bring toys, but our members contributed $445 in cash to buy additional toys. Our membership also contributed $1,495 to the Denton Community Food Center.

Donna Phillips, Nominating Committee chair, swore in the new executive board members for 2022. They are:

President: Cindy Sterling

Vice President: Sue Galinski

Secretary: Lea Ann Kirby

Treasurer: Sue Halsted

Cindy Sterling, 2022 RRWGA President, recognized all of the 2022 board, committee heads, and committee members and gave us highlights of what to expect in our 2022 RRWGA season, which officially starts with our playdays and tournaments and events in March.

In 2021 the RRWGA had record turnouts for every Tuesday playday and all of our events and tournaments, and we also had the huge fundraising events over the years that were all successful and made a lot of money for the various charities. The RRWGA also has over 130 members, a record high of membership.

The RRWGA had a fantastic, fun 2021, and we are looking forward to an even better 2022 season for the RRWGA.
