‘Twas the Season for Motorcycling

Scott Baker

Granbury lights up for Christmas! The city sparkled as the centuries-old downtown square was awash with lights. The stylish shops, award-winning restaurants, and historic homes preened and decorated for the season. This holiday wonderland was the destination for the RR Motorcycle Club’s festive weekend getaway.

The downtown historic district was pure holiday magic with thousands of twinkling lights and decorations. We strolled around the square, accented by 12-foot Christmas trees on each corner. Light displays were strung all around town and atop the majestic courthouse. Garland, wreaths, and the colors of the season decorated storefronts and restaurants.

Holiday festivities bound, we crossed the square for dinner at the Eighteen Ninety Grille & Lounge. Nestled inside a historic building, it blended Texas history with local flavors, creating the perfect dining experience for celebrating.

Then it was front and center in the Granbury Opera House for the stage performance of Elf. Based on the beloved holiday film, the hilarious big-elf-living-in-a-small-world comedy followed Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity. The heartfelt and hilarious musical was filled with memorable music and lots of laughs, but most importantly, Buddy showed us all the real meaning of Christmas.

‘Twas the true magic of the season surrounding us in Granbury. As the year came to a close, we reflected back on all the “magical” memories created by our many friends in the Motorcycle Club. Traveling on backroads and country byways, we bonded into a family. We laughed and we cried together. We high-fived and we hugged. We lent a helping hand and a shoulder to lean on.

Motorcycling is all about the camaraderie and enjoying the two- (or three-) wheeled fellowship of friends. When riding and enjoying the road, at that moment, all is right with the world. Come join the RR Motorcycle Club on our breakfast, lunch, and dinner rides, or pack a saddlebag for overnight and multi-day excursions.
